Theo Clarke was delighted to have launched her new book 'Breaking the Taboo: why we need to talk about birth trauma' tonight. The event was held in the Old Queen Street Cafe, Westminster. The drinks reception brought together people from across the birth trauma movement: politicians and medical experts, people with lived experience of birth trauma and those supportive of the cause, etc.
The event featured speeches by Ms Clarke, Dr Kim Thomas (head of the Birth Trauma Association), Rosie Duffield MP (co-chair of the APPG on Birth Trauma), Donna Ockenden (of the Ockenden Review and further birth trauma work), and Suzanne White (Leigh Day - sponsor of the event).
Ms Clarke thanked everyone for their strong support of the fast-growing movement to tackle birth trauma, discussed her on-going work, and read an extract from the book. She was also pleased to sign copies of the book sold on the night.
The birth trauma campaign continues, and Ms Clarke is immensely grateful for all the support given to it.
